IGHS welcomes Dr. Payam Nahid as our new executive director

Chancellor Sam Hawgood announced today his selection of IGHS’s new executive director, Payam Nahid, MD, MPH. Dr. Nahid is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Director of Clinical Trials Operations in the UCSF Office of Research, Director of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute’s Trials Innovation Network Hub, and Director of the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis.

“Along with the IGHS faculty and senior management, I would like to express my pleasure in this announcement and welcome Dr. Nahid to IGHS,” stated George A. Rutherford, MD, MA, IGHS Interim Executive Director. 

“Dr. Nahid is no stranger to our organization. As Director of the Center for Tuberculosis, he has been a partner and collaborator with IGHS on many occasions. His experience with IGHS, combined with over two decades of leadership in global health, ensures that he will be able to step into his new role quickly. I look forward to his leadership,” added Dr. Rutherford. 

“I want to thank Kimberly Baltzell, Madhavi Dandu, Elizabeth Fair, Georgina Lopez and Paul Wesson, who sat on the executive search committee and were instrumental in this search. I would also like to thank Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Catherine Lucey and search firm Spencer Stuart, who led the search.”
