IGHS uses its technical resources to create tools that enable global policymakers to make informed decisions about health. We organize international collective action to address urgent global health issues, from health financing and universal health coverage to malaria elimination. We produce timely evidence-based tools and information, such as policy briefs, working papers and commentaries, to help global health policymakers make key decisions.
Projects
The Advocacy, Financing, and Sustainability team works with national malaria programs, their partners, and donors to ensure the sustainability of the malaria response through policy, advocacy, and resource mobilization. The Malaria Elimination Initiative has developed a unique and specialized approach called the Sustainability Model, which comprises two complementary workstreams: Malaria Donor Transitions, which supports countries in their journey from donor-supported to fully country-financed and managed programs; and Malaria Budget Advocacy, aimed at strengthening domestic financing for malaria programs through national and sub-national leadership and advocacy.

Advocacy, Financing and Sustainability
SMART4TB aims to transform tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care. It designs and implements research studies with local partners to identify effective person-centered methods for finding, treating and preventing TB; strengthen local capacity to conduct high-quality research; and engage communities to build demand for new interventions, drive policy change, and improve implementation of new and existing interventions to reach the End TB Targets.
Eric Goosby, MD, leads SMART4TB’s Policy Translation and Community Engagement Technical Area. Dr. Goosby contributes to building a strong framework for policy translation and community engagement and helps achieve ambitious high-level global policy commitments to advance research to end TB.
