Our Program
Our program prepares students for a successful and rewarding future in global health. Created in 2008 as the nation’s first master’s program in Global Health Sciences, our founders understood that achieving meaningful, holistic impact in global health requires bringing experts from diverse groups to work together in interdisciplinary settings. Today, our program is still at the forefront of cutting-edge global health research and impact.

Curriculum
Our program provides a comprehensive introduction to important topics, methods and skills necessary for careers in global health. Graduates are prepared for diverse careers in research, policymaking, academia, and program management and evaluation.

Global Health Projects
The capstone research project is the centerpiece of our program. Students focus on an area of interest and apply what they have learned in the classroom to an active, mentored project in global health, either in the United States with an underserved population or with an international partner.

Student Life
UCSF offers a dynamic and supportive environment for students in Global Health Sciences with robust support services, including academic advising, career counseling and mental health resources, and opportunities to join organizations focused on global health, advocacy and community service. Students also connect with like-minded peers worldwide, ensuring they thrive personally and professionally.
