Recent months have seen several changes within the GHS Education team. Kim Baltzell, RN, PhD, NP, MS ‘10, stepped down as associate director of the Master of Science program to focus on her work as director of the Center for Global Health in the UCSF School of Nursing and her research with GHS’s Malaria Elimination Initiative. Two associate directors have taken on Baltzell’s role: Elizabeth Fair, PhD, MPH, an infectious disease epidemiologist, and Alden Blair, MSc, PhD(c), a researcher on substance use and HIV and the MS biostatistics instructor.
The Education group also bid farewell to two staff members. In July, Elizabeth Rojo, MA, left her position as student affairs officer for the master’s program to work with the education programs of the Emergency Medicine Association of Tanzania (EMAT) at Muhimbili Hospital in Dar es Salaam. In September, Maggie Coffin, MA, who had served as coordinator for the Pathway to Discovery in Global Health program, the PhD program, and the Global Health Leadership Program, accepted a new position as a curriculum designer for Philanthropy University.
GHS is pleased to welcome new staff to our team. Eva Wong-Moy joined us as the graduate student affairs officer to support both the MS and PhD programs; she brings more than ten years of experience in student advising and supporting student progress within the UC system. Carolyn Doty came on board as the new program assistant for the PhD program, with more than 15 years of experience in providing administrative support. Also, four recent master’s graduates have joined us as course assistants in the MS program: Natasha Mehta, Anthony Nardone, Talita D’Aguiar Rosa, and Emily Rosenberg.
