Writing Workshop

The Science of a Good Story with Maria Smilios

Date: January 15, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to noon PT

Mission Hall, Room 2103

In this workshop, we explore the power of storytelling as a catalyst for connection, understanding, and change in public health, particularly tuberculosis. Participants step into a human-centered approach to narrative—one that honors both the rigor of research and the lived experiences of doctors, public health professionals, patients, and communities.

Through interactive exercises, we practice techniques for transforming data into compelling stories, highlighting the human side of medicine, and using narrative to foster empathy, spark dialogue, and inspire meaningful change.
