Reimagining TB Diagnosis: From Implementation Science to Innovation—and Back Again.

Adithya Cattamanchi, MD, MAS, Professor of Medicine and Public Health, Chief, Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine, UC Irvine, UCSF Center for Tuberculosis 

Adithya Cattamanchi, MD, MAS, is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health, and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California Irvine. Cattamanchi’s research over the past 18 years has focused on the epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) and the development, evaluation, and implementation of TB diagnostics in high burden countries. He has served on multiple World Health Organization guideline development panels for various TB diagnostics, the Board of Advisors for the CDC TB Epidemiologic Studies Consortium and on the CDC Advisory Council on Elimination of Tuberculosis. In addition to research, he is involved in mentoring and training in implementation science research. He co-directed the University of California San Francisco Implementation Science Training Program for 5 years and co-directs the introductory course, co-directs an NHLBI K12 program in implementation research for heart and lung diseases, is involved in two NIH Fogarty International Center D43 training programs related to implementation research in HIV and TB, and is a member of the advisory committee for the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis and the UCSF-UC Berkeley Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center.
