Sam Hawgood, MBBS

Sam Hawgood is the chancellor of UC San Francisco (UCSF), where he provides strategic leadership across the university’s health sciences schools, research programs, and clinical enterprises. A physician-scientist with expertise in pediatrics and neonatology, Hawgood has led UCSF through significant initiatives in medical education, translational research, and global health. Before becoming chancellor, he served as dean of the UCSF School of Medicine and has contributed extensively to neonatal medicine research, including the development of therapies for premature infants.
