November theme: Climate and Health
Speaker
Radisti A. Praptiwi, PhD
Researcher, Research Center for Ecology, National Research and Innovation Agency
Radisti A. Praptiwi is a researcher in marine resources management at the Research Center for Ecology, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in Indonesia, where her work sits at the intersection of ecology, society, and governance. She takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding marine and coastal systems, including how they function, what they provide, and how they can be managed to benefit both people and the planet. Her recent work focused on some of the most pressing challenges facing coastal communities: how plastic pollution disrupts coastal and marine ecosystem services and the well-being of those who rely on them, how community-based monitoring can help close critical data gaps in remote and low-resource coastal areas, and the ways climate change is reshaping cultural connections to the sea, particularly in small island settings.
