Speaker

Silvana Larrea-Schiavon, MD, MPH, DrPH

Silvana Larrea-Schiavon, MD, MPH, DrPH, is a public health researcher whose work focuses on migrant and refugee health, including sexual and reproductive health and access to care in contexts of vulnerability. She is currently a Project Policy Analyst at UCSF, where she contributes to the design and evaluation of interventions for newcomer immigrant youth.

Larrea-Schiavon holds a Doctor of Public Health from UC Berkeley, a Master’s in Public Health and a specialty in Preventive Medicine from Mexico’s National Institute of Public Health, and a medical degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Her doctoral research examined access to SRH services among undocumented migrant women in transit through Mexico from a health systems perspective.

Her work has involved qualitative and mixed-methods research in Mexico and the United States, in collaboration with government institutions, NGOs, and community-based organizations. She has contributed to studies and reports that inform programmatic and policy discussions on migration and health in Mexico, including efforts to strengthen health system responses for migrant populations. She has co-authored publications on migrant health, SRH, and access to care, and is particularly interested in translating research into practical strategies to improve health service delivery for displaced and structurally marginalized populations.
