Nurses and advanced practice providers have historically been undervalued and underutilized in global health, yet they comprise the majority of the global health workforce. The Global Nursing Impact Series aims to provide a platform for leading nurses and advanced practice providers to share the impact that they are making in the field of global health through research, advocacy, collaboration, innovation, and more. Invited speakers will present for 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.
The lecture series is hosted by the Center for Global Nursing (CGN) on the second Tuesday of each month on Zoom. More CGN events can be found on the CGN website.

Adam Leonard, PhD(c), MPH, PNP
Assistant Adjunct Professor, UCSF School of Nursing
Adam Leonard is an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the UCSF School of Nursing and a PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins University. His academic interests include infectious diseases, implementation science, and health systems research.
Before beginning his doctoral studies, Adam worked as a nurse practitioner specializing in adolescent and young adult health with a special emphasis on HIV care and prevention, treatment of STIs, mental health care, and harm-reduction-based substance use treatment.
Adam serves as faculty for CGN’s Certificate in Global Nursing Program and co-leads the UCSF Center for Global Nursing’s Global Nursing Internship Program, mentoring students engaged in international research and partnership development. His doctoral research at Johns Hopkins University applies epidemiological methods to evaluate the impact of youth-friendly health services on tuberculosis and HIV outcomes among youth living with HIV in Central and East Africa. His commitment to advancing equitable health systems and building global nursing capacity reflects his dedication to improving outcomes for vulnerable populations worldwide.
