Nurses and advanced practice providers have historically been undervalued and underutilized in global health, yet they comprise the majority of the global health workforce. The Global Nursing Impact Series aims to provide a platform for leading nurses and advanced practice providers to share the impact that they are making in the field of global health through research, advocacy, collaboration, innovation, and more. Invited speakers will present for 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.
The lecture series is hosted by the Center for Global Nursing (CGN) on the second Tuesday of each month on Zoom. More CGN events can be found on the CGN website.

Rona Breese, BA, RGN, FHEA
Independent Health Professions Training Consultant in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Rona Breese is an Independent Health Professions Training Consultant in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Rona recently led a team of health professionals from across Africa to develop Systematic Assessment Resuscitation Training (StART) Pediatric Basic Life Support. She is also the co-developer of Smile Train’s Nursing Care Saves Lives program, which has been implemented with more than 1,800 nurses across Africa, the Americas, the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia.
Rona is a nurse and health professions educator, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom, and has more than 35 years of nursing and training experience, including more than 20 years living and working across East Africa. Her work has spanned diverse locations and settings across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
Rona’s passion is improving the quality and safety of patient care by understanding local challenges and developing relevant training, education, and processes that drive sustainable improvements.
Elisha Mullen Okaisu, BSN, RN, PG
Critical Care Nurse Practice Instructor, CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda
Elisha Mullen Okaisu is the Critical Care Nurse Practice Instructor at CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda and a registered nurse with more than 18 years of clinical, leadership, and healthcare education experience. He holds postgraduate training in Critical Care Nursing and has served in nursing leadership roles, including Assistant Nurse Manager and Head of Nursing.
Elisha is a Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support instructor, with extensive experience in clinical and healthcare education, emergency and critical care, quality improvement, and patient safety. His professional interests focus on competency-based education, healthcare workforce development, the implementation of evidence-based practice, and the strengthening of health systems to improve patient outcomes.
