Associate Director of Science, IGHS

Paul Wesson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at UC San Francisco and the Associate Director of Science at the IGHS. His research focuses on quantifying health disparities among socially marginalized populations, particularly in relation to infectious diseases. Wesson develops and applies data-driven methods for sampling hard-to-reach populations and estimating population sizes, which are crucial for effective public health interventions. He integrates social epidemiology theories, such as intersectionality and minority stress, into his study designs to understand the social determinants of health. His work aims to inform resource allocation and improve health outcomes for underserved communities.
