Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing Council of Kenya
Edna Tallam-Kimaiyo is a nurse leader, educator, and policy expert. She is a senior lecturer and head of community health at AMREF International University and a member of the Global Nursing Advisory Council (CGN) at UC San Francisco. As the former registrar and CEO of the Nursing Council of Kenya, she led regulatory reforms that earned the ICS Champions of Governance Award. She has advanced practice nursing (APN) across Africa — defining scopes of practice, accrediting institutions, and strengthening faculty capacity. She plays leadership roles in the International Council of Nurses, including the Global Nursing Leadership Institute and the ODENNA Project, and serves as joint secretary to Kenya’s presidential taskforce on human resources for health.
