Isménia Simbine, MD

Isménia Simbine is a thoracic surgery resident at Hospital Central de Maputo and a leader in strengthening surgical care systems in Mozambique. She contributes to the National Surgical, Obstetric, and Anesthesia Plan (NSOAP), using data and research to guide policy, improve infrastructure, and build workforce capacity. Simbine’s work focuses on ensuring equitable, timely, and safe surgical care across the country, with an emphasis on sustainable local leadership and health system resilience.
