Improving health and reducing inequities worldwide

Poverty, chronic illness, epidemics, lack of trained health care workers – these and other complex problems are devastating the health of people around the world. And in this era of globalization, where diseases don't respect boundaries, these problems are also harming lives at home.

In 2003, UCSF formed a new team to tackle this century's most daunting issues in global health. Global Health Sciences (GHS) comprises educators, researchers and healthcare professionals and integrates UCSF expertise in all of the health, social and biological sciences. Team members work with partners in countries throughout the world to build sustainable solutions and train global health leaders.

Scores of projects are underway, ranging from helping nations permanently eliminate malaria at their borders to developing health care faculty in Africa. While GHS has made great strides, your support will help us expand our efforts to reach even more of the most vulnerable.
