Faculty Affiliates with similar research interests often connect informally through interest groups. Each group has a moderator and determines its own meeting time and agenda. Currently, the following interest groups are active:
Alcohol and HIV
This group shares an interest in how alcohol use impacts behavior and viral susceptibility in the context of the HIV epidemic. Contact moderator Judy Hahn to join the group.
Child Mental Health
We connect faculty, students, staff members, and UCSF affiliates and partners who share a passion for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) interventions, including technology, education, prevention, treatment, research, advocacy and policy. We cultivate innovative approaches to address ACEs worldwide. Contact Mohsen Malekinejad for more information.
This group develops an annual series of lectures, usually held in late August/early September, to foster collaboration among peers. Contact Sohil Sud for more information.
This group facilitates collaboration on and efficiencies in research and training by convening faculty, staff and students who share an academic interest in the health of Indian populations.
Infectious Disease Implementation Science
This group meets monthly at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital to foster early career investigators undertaking research in implementation science in the context of infectious disease, both domestically and internationally. Many meetings are a focused critique of ongoing research. We welcome like-minded researchers and endeavor to expand the integration of implementation science into clinical and research projects across UCSF. Contact Adithya Cattamanchi for more information.
Young Investigators in International Research
This conference-style group offers an informal opportunity for early career investigators interested in international research to present and discuss research proposals and ideas with their peers and senior advisors. The group meets on the first Thursday of the month from 8-9 am at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Contact Gabriel Chamie to join.
There are many other initiatives throughout UCSF that enable faculty, staff and students who share a specific global health interest to meet and work together.
