Join GHS for its inaugural Grand Rounds featuring Dr. Walter Orenstein in conversation with GHS Executive Director Jaime Sepulveda on eradicating polio and sustaining eradication.

Areas to be covered include the definition of eradication; why polio is a candidate; the polio strategy; progress to date; what has been learned in the process; and, the endgame plan including OPV withdrawal, future immunization policies, containment, response to potential reintroduction of virus; and transition of polio resources to other public health problems.

Walter A. Orenstein, MD

Dr. Orenstein is professor and associate director of the Emory Vaccine Center, and director of the Influenza Pathogenesis & Immunology Research Center at Emory University School of Medicine. He has worked with the CDC, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and served as Assistant Surgeon General of the United States.
