Improving health and reducing inequities worldwide

Clinical Scholars

The Global Health Sciences Clinical Scholars Program (GHCSP) was established in 2006 in response to a demand for an educational track by clinical trainees interested in bridging the global health gap. The program is the first in the nation to include residents from such a diversity and number of disciplines, and has expanded to include the school of nursing and other health professional schools.

UCSF graduate healthcare professionals (UCSF residents, scholars, fellows, and postgraduate students) from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and the Graduate Division, who wish to formally incorporate global health into their professional careers are eligible. The overall aim of the program is to cultivate future careers in global health. The application process for the Clinical Scholars program usually occurs November - January of each year.

The curriculum includes a three-week classroom course, monthly seminars, web-based asynchronous curriculum, and a mentored project with a local or global underserved population.
