Global Health Group Announcements
The GHS Global Health Group (GHG) is pleased to announce the appointments of several key members of its team:

Elizabeth Brashers joins the GHG as its Chief Operations Officer, managing the group on a day-to-day basis. Elizabeth brings over ten years in operations and program management experience at Kaiser Permanente and UC Berkeley. She has managed the Group's startup operations since November.

Devanand (Patrick) Moonasar joins the GHG as Technical Advisor to the Southern African Malaria Elimination Support Team, a joint partnership with the Clinton Foundation to promote and develop elimination efforts in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland. Patrick will be based in Pretoria, South Africa; the Support Team will operate out of Gaborone, Botswana. Patrick was formerly the National Malaria Program Manager for South Africa, and brings significant experience in control efforts in the region.

Allison Phillips joins us as the GHG's Malaria Program Coordinator. She will be very involved in the Southern African Malaria Elimination Support Team's work in Africa, and will coordinate and support the GHG's Malaria Elimination Group (MEG), which launches in March. Allison has spent much of the last three years in Africa with TechnoServe, including work on a project with McKinsey & Company, and with Global Service Corps.

Heather Kinlaw joins the GHG as Program Coordinator for the Health Systems Initiative, and will work closely with Dominic Montagu, Health Systems Initiative Lead, in planning for the Initiative's launch in April. She will also support the GHG's Advisory Board. Heather holds masters degrees in Public Policy and Public Health from UC Berkeley, and joins us most recently from the Clinton Global Initiative.

The Global Health Group is a new "action tank" established within Global Health Sciences by Sir Richard Feachem in October 2007. Its focus is on driving large-scale action on selected major priority issues within global health and development, including elimination of malaria and health systems strengthening. The Group is located at 50 Beale Street, San Francisco, on the 12th Floor.
