Global Health Experience

  • Volunteer, MADRE, an international women’s human rights organization committed to reducing disparities in economic development, education, health and reproductive rights.
  • Worked with Latino youth in underserved public schools in New York.
  • Conducted research on HIV/AIDS education and prevention techniques among migrant Burmese sex workers in China, and on the efficacy of various HIV/AIDS intervention models in Lesotho.
  • Volunteer in clinics and hospitals in Mexico through PRIME-LC, and in Mozambique through the UCSD Global Medicine Elective.

Global Health Interest

Megan plans to provide healthcare in underserved Latino communities in both the US and Latin America with particular interest in the intersection of migration and health. She is also interested using community-based participatory research methods to examine the long-term efficacy of global health initiatives. Long term, Megan plans to be a medical educator to raise awareness of the social determinants of health.
